Description

A fish is a fish is a fish...

This is, as the name says, a wallart to hang on ... walls. :D

The idea to put the fish on the (fake) wood came late at night while my little one decided not to sleep and I realized the fish is to big for a journal cover.

First I made the fish: it has a aluminium foil base covered with supersculpey. Then I made a skinnerblend and a cane from a Mix of Supersculpey+translucent Premo --> translucent Premo --> Cernit neonblue --> Cernit neongreen --> Cernit neonyellow. The last three colors are fluorescent colors, I wanted to try out. The Neon-Set of the Cernit Brand are very soft but good to handle. Like some colors and kinds of Sculpey they darken a little bit after baking.
Every scale of the fish is handsculpted from slices of the skinnerblend cane. One day I will write an ode to my pasta machine :D The fins were supported while baking because the are very thin. Some very small pieces of them broke during the painting, but thats ok.
I had much clay left from the fish (I still have a piece of the Cane) and played around like I always do with left overs. The pasta machine was smiling at me and said: "Run it through me!! Now!" I did and then there was a very nice pattern of the different fish-colors. :D I put a slice of SuperSculpey under the "wood" to give a little more durability and textured like always when I make fakewood. So..no trees were harmed! :D And the fishies are all ok. :D

After baking I used some acrylic colors to give it an old look.

But it burned a little, so all the Supersculpey-parts are blackish now. It did not break, thats all that counts. :D

Materials: Polymerclay, 3 glass cabochons, eyelets and acrylicpaint
